Cambria Elementary School participated in a monthly reading program this year called Tales for Tails. This program is a nationally recognized one in which trained and certified therapy dogs are brought into the school to help students improve their confidence in reading.
To many students, reading can be challenging and sometimes students feel frustrated when they are learning to read. Tales for Tails helps to curve this frustration as dogs serve as a “boost” to students as they read to the dogs. The children read aloud to the dog and the dog listens without judgment.
Tales for Tails will be visiting CES monthly. The program serves as a reward for all of the hard work the students have done to improve their reading skills and provides them with another opportunity to associate reading with something positive.
